Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions beginners ask most, with links to the full lessons.

What is Grok Bot?

An app made by Cursor where you give work to AI assistant bots by chatting with them. Bots can use connected apps and their own cloud computer to get tasks done. Start with where to download it.

Where do I download it?

Only from official sources. The desktop app is on Cursor's download page, and there are iPhone and Android apps. Details are in Step 1.

Do I need a separate Grok Bot password?

No. The app uses your Cursor account. See Installing and signing in.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Most lessons use plain requests typed in chat. The API Connections lessons and a few advanced ones include code for people who want to build their own bots.

What is the primary bot?

The bot pinned at the top of your sidebar. Give it any task and it can pass the work to your other bots. See Step 5.

Should I have one bot or several?

Start with one. When a job repeats, give it its own focused bot: it builds memory about that area and does better. See Creating your first bot.

How does a bot get into my email or calendar?

Through a connector. You add it, then sign in on that app's own page and approve access. You type your password there, not in chat. See What is a connector.

Will my bot send emails without asking?

When a bot writes a message to go out under your name, it drafts it for your approval first. Read Safety and approvals.

What's the difference between a skill, a routine and memory?

A skill is how to do a task. A routine is when to do it. Memory holds lasting facts like your preferences. See Skills.

Can a bot do things on a schedule?

Yes, with a routine. Ask in chat, for example "Every weekday at 8 AM, summarize my calendar here." See Routines.

Where should I keep passwords and API keys?

Not in chat, email or shared documents. Grok Bot keeps passwords and cards in the Vault; in your own code, use environment variables. See Keeping secrets out of your code.

What if a lesson doesn't match what I see in the app?

Apps change. Check Cursor's official Grok Bot documentation, or ask your bot. Each lesson links to its sources.

Does BotDemoLab sell anything or set bots up for people?

No. It's an education-only site. There are no paid products, sponsors or setup services. See About.

How do I contact BotDemoLab?
