Emailing tracking numbers to customers Beginner
Look up an order's tracking number and email the customer a friendly shipping notice with a tracking link.
What you'll learn
- Finding the tracking number
- Drafting the email
- Reviewing before sending
Before you start
- The Grok Bot app, installed and signed in. New? See where to download it and installing and signing in.
- Your store connected, either with a connector (like Shopify Merchant) or its API (see platform comparison).
- A way to send email (Gmail or Outlook).
1. Steps
- Ask the bot: "Find order 1001's tracking number and carrier."
- Ask for a draft:
Draft a shipping email to the customer for order 1001: carrier, tracking number, official tracking link, thank-you line. Don't send yet.
- Check: customer name, email, order number, tracking number.
- Approve the send.
2. Use official tracking links
Link to the carrier's own tracking page (UPS, USPS, FedEx). Ask the bot to confirm the link opens.
3. Avoid double emails
Many platforms already email customers when you mark an order shipped. Check your store's notification settings first.
4. Save it as a skill
Once it works, say: "Save this as a skill called 'Email tracking number'." (Skills.)
