Printing packing slips automatically Intermediate
A packing slip lists the items, SKUs, quantities and address for an order. Your bot can generate them for new orders, one at a time or in bulk.
What you'll learn
- Platform templates vs your own
- Generating slips
Before you start
- The Grok Bot app, installed and signed in. New? See where to download it and installing and signing in.
- Your store connected, either with a connector (like Shopify Merchant) or its API (see platform comparison).
1. Use your platform first
Most platforms have packing slip templates in the order screen; Shopify, for example, lets you print slips from orders. Check yours.
2. Or make your own
- Decide the layout: logo, order number, items, SKUs, quantities, ship-to address, a thank-you note.
- Ask:
Create printable packing slips (PDF) for today's unfulfilled orders using this layout.
- Open the PDF and check one against the order.
- Print.
3. Make it daily
A morning routine can prepare the slips for you to print.
4. Privacy
Slips contain addresses. Don't share the files or leave them in shared folders.
Ideas to try
- Morning routine.
Every weekday at 8, make a PDF of packing slips for new orders.
- Gift orders.
Leave prices off slips for orders marked as gifts.
- Branding.
Add my logo and a thank-you message to the slip template.
- Picking list.
Also make a combined list of items to pull from shelves.
Tips
- Print a test page first.
- Include SKUs for faster picking.
- Delete old slip files.
