Running a store bot safely in production Advanced
"Production" means real customers and real money. These habits keep a store bot safe and reliable.
What you'll learn
- Approvals and logs
- Protecting customer data
- Alerts when the bot fails
Before you start
- The Grok Bot app, installed and signed in. New? See where to download it and installing and signing in.
1. Approvals
Anything that charges, refunds or messages customers needs your approval. Write the rule into the bot's memory and back it with approvals (Safety).
2. Audit log
Keep a record of every action: time, what, which order. A sheet is fine.
3. Customer data
- Collect only what you need.
- Don't paste customer details into public places.
- Use the smallest API permissions (scopes).
4. Retries and limits
Handle errors politely (rate limits and errors).
5. Know when it breaks
- Have routines report failures instead of guessing.
- Add a daily "I'm alive" summary.
- Check the log weekly.
Ideas to try
- Weekly check.
Every Friday, summarize what you did for the store and any errors.
- Permissions audit.
List the API keys and connectors the store bot uses and their permissions.
- Rules.
Remember: never refund, discount or email a customer without my approval.
- Failure alert.
If the morning order check fails, tell me right away.
Tips
- Rotate keys regularly.
- Test changes on a copy or test store.
- Keep a way to pause routines quickly.
